3306 Kingston Rd. Seniors Shelter

Renovation and conversion of a 2 storey existing motel into a 100 bed Co-ed Senior’s Shelter.   Working with the City’s Management group and Users and through several Community meetings, we ensured that the new facility met SSHA standards and guidelines and provided a friendly, yet resilient facility for the residents.   Building skin performance was dramatically improved as well as fire life safety.   An accessibility elevator was provided.   Special attention was paid to a new commercial kitchen and other staff areas which included an improved interface between Staff and Residents.   All existing HVAC & Electrical systems were replaced with energy efficient equipment, including the addition of a geothermal system.   New paving for parking was carried out while a 7,000 sf landscaped area provides respite and active gardening for residents.  City of Toronto, Shelter and Support Housing
